What Physicians Are On Your Medical Care Team?

Physicians, surgeons and therapists make up the major medical caregiving team. The type of doctor necessary depends on the condition and the level of care necessary.

The primary physician will typically be a family doctor, internal medicine doctor, general practice doctor, or geriatrician. He/she coordinates what doctors, surgeons or specialists you are consulting and what prescriptions are being taken. If there is a change in the medicines, the primary doctor needs to know.

Surgeons, specialists and therapists are usually called in when certain conditions or diseases need their attention. Co-pay for their services usually are higher, so be prepared.

With each team member you need to know:

Participate in Medicare and Medicaid and accepts assignment for charges?

How much you will be required to pay?

Accepting new patients if participant is a new patient?

Normal Office hours and days?

Easily accessible office and parking lot?

Asks about health care directives?

Responds quickly to phone messages?

Prescribes medicines that fit your wallet?

You are in his/her care. Be confident of where you place your trust.

We will be adding descriptions of different types of medical personnel you might be working with for your reference in the near future. Check back or send a request on the response form.
