Sports - Active or Passive but Always Good

Sports activities should be encouraged as long as possible to be actively involved until it not safe anymore. If not a player, be an observer and enjoy the excitement of the activity.

Fishing and Hunting - still able to go, that's great. If not, then watch television shows or videos that show techniques. Gives something to talk about and to enjoy what's going on out there in the wilds. Might even learn something new.

Tennis Anyone? There's the court kind and the paddle kind and both are fun. You don't have to be able to slam it, just volley it back and forth. Not agile enough, watch the tournaments live or on television. See who is seeded where and why.

Golf -18 holes or 9 or miniature. It's fun and good exercise. Able to go, then do it! If not watch the tournaments with friends and add to the commentary of what's done right and wrong.

Shuffleboard- It's harder than it looks so don't laugh. There are tournaments for the top player. Maybe there's some hidden talent.

Pool or Billiards - Helps keep the hand and eye coordination if you can reach across that table and find those pockets with just a tap of that cue stick on the right ball and banking against the rails.

Bowling if you can take the pressure and not roll down the lanes with the ball. Enjoy the tournaments on television and watch those techniques you've been trying to get the kids to do.

Just the beginning of sports to be played. If can't join 'em watch 'em.

Seniors start using the Wii®:!!! It will not only challenge you to improve you hand and eye coordination, it will keep your mind sharp. Challenge other senior, your family members or just yourself. Entertaining, probably a little frustrating at first, but fun when you get the hang of it. Besides it makes for good conversation with the kids in the family...let them show you how to use it and enjoy the interaction. Some games come with the machine, but others are available for all sorts of sports...golf to tennis to bowling and race cars....to wrestling and whatever tickles your fancy. You can probably relive some of those fun experiences you had in your (younger) "other life".
